Raven and Branch
(Common Raven)
I first imagined this painting of the Common Raven wind blown and perched high over Crater Lake in Oregon. The first attempt proved futile as the bird was just lost against the photo-realistic image of the deep blue lake I painted. Thinking that less might be more, I focused just on the bird.
Take a look at this version and compare it to the other with just a hint of the Crater Lake rim in the background.
