Arriving, Arriving
Arriving all the way
Arriving all the way together
Awakening Joy

—Mantra from the Heart Sutra

Translated by Kazuaki Tanahashi

The Heart Sutra: A Comprehensive Guide to the

Classic of Mahayana Buddhism, 2016.

The most often recited, most beloved of Buddhist scripts is one known most simply as the Heart Sutra. Its origin, almost two millennia ago was most likely in India. But translations spread throughout China, then Korea, and then into Japan. Today, it is known throughout the world.

It calls on the “Mother of Compassion” to lead us along a path to wisdom that leaves pain and suffering in all material and spiritual forms behind—to a state of mind that allows us to experience the interconnectedness and potential of all things.

To that end, I’m offering A Call to Sharing Peace and Joy in the Covid year when we all so desperately need to find that place—arriving there, all the way, together.
