Fishing

(Osprey)

Through the years we have loved to take all our boys—our four-legged, tail-wagging boys—to Lake of the Woods, OR, to swim and retrieve. On almost every visit, we’d hear the bright whistle of an Osprey or two as they circled above the waters and dove for their next meal—successfully much of the time.

With “Fishing,” I’ve tried to capture the scene of an Osprey showing off a good catch on a particularly glorious day—deep blue sky with bright sun reflecting off the bird and Mt. McLaughlin, which looms above the forests that surround the lake. The background is inspired by one of Becky’s many photos from our trips. With that much snow on the mountain, this would certainly have been an early spring day.
