I caught my first Rainbow Trout on a fly in a riffle along the Owens River in California. The scene was much like this—a memory I hold dear.
As dry as the grasses and trees may appear much of the year, they thrive on the clear, running waters and provide shelter and food for an abundance of wildlife. It’s difficult to imagine that this is just a narrow track that runs through the state’s high desert. Beyond the hill to the right lies craggy boulders, shifting sands, and tangled clusters of the proverbial tumbling tumble weeds.
